SUNGLASSES- LE SPECS, COAT- c/o BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN, TROUSERS- ASOS, SHOES- GANNI
I'm sitting at my kitchen island, on a sunny, yet freezing afternoon in February, having woke up with a sudden urge to write. This is the first time in 2025 that I've had this urge and I am SO grateful to George for offering to take the kiddos out for an hour or two so I can scratch this itch.
When I'm busy, overwhelmed or feeling any kind of low mood, my writing is the first thing to take a hit. I abandon my blog and my newsletter in favour of other creative mediums and there comes a time when the urge, passion and love for it comes flooding in and I simply must act on it right then, for fear it might disappear again.
Not that I'm by any means a fantastic writer, but it's what lead me to this career in content creation all those years ago, and it's something I truly love to do, even now and even though it seems to be regularly left behind, my blog (and in a similar vein, yet much more recently this newsletter) is my baby and it will always be, despite the IRL babies that have arrived earth side and taken up all my time.
Anyway, I'm treating this February half term as my official start to the year. I'm going to try and get better at regularly writing and getting my pro-active nature back, as that's what makes me feel good.
Kicking things off today, with something nice and simple but I find inspiring on the blogs/newsletters of others, a little round up of my looks so far in 2025.
I've really enjoyed styling myself this year and I think it's because there hasn't been the same pressures as other years. Having children really does allow you to slow down a bit and have many-a-more down day, or at least it does for me and being self employed. Having to only "think" about my outfits 3 out of 7 days a week has allowed me to enjoy dressing for these colder months rather than completely hating it. Don't get me wrong I am SO ready for some warmer weather and lighter layers, but for now, I'm leaning into my knitwear, my oversized coats (aka outfit ruiners) and more "sensible shoes" for a little while longer.
SHIRT- ASOS, TROUSERS- c/o FRENCH CONNECTION, SHOES- LOEWE, GLASSES- AMAZON, BAG- MIU MIU
Rugby shirts are having a huge moment right now and I promised myself I wouldn't opt into the trend too heavily since I've had one sat in my wardrobe for many, many years quite literally gathering dust. It has been worn a number of times since the trend came back into play which has been nice for the old boy, but I simply couldn't resist this waffle texture piece from ASOS. The texture combined with a rather, child like colour palette really got me, and I truly have been wearing it non-stop!
I particularly love styling it with camel, strangely. Opting for combat trousers such as these pictured, but also with a pleated camel mini skirt from COS many moons ago, which you can see in this video here. It's a really versatile piece and one I'm looking forward to wearing through into spring and who knows, maybe even summer too on an evening with a pair of denim cut offs, gorgeous!
Speaking of gorgeous, these micro glasses from Amazon are just that! GORGEOUS!
I've been loving smaller frames as sunglasses but was yet to take the leap into small frame optical glasses. Before I took the plunge I thought I'd try some blue light specs from amazon. Coming in a two pack it is safe to say that I love them and I have gotten SO much wear out of them. You also went wild for them when I linked them on my Instagram so here they are again in case you missed them.
JACKET- c/o ALIGNE, JUMPER- c/o ME & EM, SKIRT- ANTHROPOLOGIE, BOOTS- FREE PEOPLE, BAG- COS, SUNGLASSES- MIU MIU
Dipping my toe into spring styling and somewhat regretting it as it is still absolutely flipping BALTIC! However, it was nice to have a play around with spring colours and silhouettes, despite the regret.
This sweatshirt has been attached to my body A LOT lately, it's by Me & Em and is a cashmere/merino wool mix, in the shape of a sweatshirt, but also REVERSIBLE! Honestly, it's such a great piece in the colour of the season, butter yellow, with a grey reverse, sensational!
Yellow and red is such a stunning combination when paired with darker tones of black and brown and it's a combination I'm really looking forward to playing with a little more as the temperature rises.
This look is by far one of my faves of late, I mean just look at those boots(!!!!) what a purchase they were!
BLAZER- c/o BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN, CARDGIAN- ASOS, TROUSERS- ASOS, SHOES- GANNI, BAG- c/o & OTHER STORIES, SUNLGASSES- LE SPECS
If someone was to ask me to share a photo of an outfit that REALLY makes me feel like me, I'd probably share this one! It's an outfit I've worn countless times lately and an outfit that for me never, ever fails, regardless of what I'm doing that day. Whether I'm out in town with friends, working or out with the kids, it's an easy look that has all the elements of a very "me" outfit, with no restricting pieces, meaning that it is hella comfortable!
Grandad styling is something that I've leaned into an awful lot this year so far and not necessarily in the typical way we normally would when referencing a grandad. My dad is now a grandad of two, and he has such awesome style, so I've been looking to him for inspiration on textures and colour combinations and honestly, if we forget about the blazer and shoes which are very much a Megan addition, I feel this is something he would enjoy wearing too. That guy LOVES a corduroy trouser and a striped piece of knitwear!
BLAZER- LOVECHILD c/o JOHN LEWIS, TOP- c/o NEXT, TROUSERS- c/o NEXT, BAG- c/o & OTHER STORIES, SHOES- COS, GLASSES- AMAZON
I think brown has been the colour of the season for me. It's been a colour I've noticed myself gravitating towards a lot and a colour I've been wishing I had more of in my wardrobe. If it wasn't nearing the end of winter I'd SO be investing in a fab oversized brown coat right now as I feel that is a piece I really am missing in my wardrobe. But anyway, for now we'll opt for DIY brown suiting instead.
I say DIY as these aren't actually a perfect pair.
The jacket is by LoveChild and the trousers by Next, but they're a really great match I must say. I really love how this blazer is collarless and how it also has the option to be belted round the middle too, making it unlike anything else I have in my closet. I also have the matching brown shorts but naturally they've been relegated for the time being.
Stripes have been another go-to for me this season and something I've not leant into for YEARS AND YEARS after heavily overdosing on the popular stripe back when I was a wannabe Alexa Chung indie gal.
I've found myself gravitating back towards them and I'm really enjoying it. Again this is a piece from Next and I adore the boyish colour combination so much! I feel this is also leaning into the whole grandad styling but with a touch of cutesy with the addition of my Cos flats.
SHIRT- c/o SEZANE, BLUE TOP- c/o RIVER ISLAND, LEOPARD VEST- c/o GAP, TROUSERS- ASOS, SHOES- GANNI, BAG- c/o RIVER ISLAND
And lastly we have a little tinker into spring styling and absolutely regretting it with this layered look. I REALLY wanted to wear this gorgeous chunky cuff striped shirt by Sezane, so decided to layer it with a pop of blue and a clash of leopard print, however, those layers really did not suffice.
Here we have my trusty corduroy trousers once again and the most amazing high street bag by River Island (!!!!), a brand I really think we'll need to take a deeper look into shortly as they are KILLING it right now. This bag is so refreshing for River Island as it doesn't feature any OTT branding, and is an incredible dupe for the mini pocket bags from the likes of Miu Miu and Acne!
I hope you enjoyed this first post of 2025 (in mid February... whoopsy) I certainly LOVED writing it and I'm going to crack on with some other posts right now, striking whilst the iron is hot and all of that.
I’ve been posting regularly over on TikTok & Instagram, so be sure to head there too for a different side of fashion and lifestyle content but for now, thank you SO much for still being here.
